The Marriage In Lysekil
Someone has to act — and that someone turns out to be Uncle Gianni, sixty-three years old, magnificently mustachioed, and recently described by his cardiologist as 'surprisingly spry for a man who eats that much prosciutto.' He spots the twins the instant they break from the doorway and launches himself forward with a burst of speed that genuinely impresses the Swedish guests. He gets Flavio first — one arm sweeping the boy up mid-brandish, boutonnière still heroically aloft — then pivots for Aurora, who has assessed the situation in under two seconds and already changed course toward the candle display. Gianni lunges. He gets her. He now has one twin under each arm like two very opinionated loaves of bread, and the congregation exhales as one. Flavio considers this development with great scientific interest, then begins to study Uncle Gianni's magnificent moustache at very close range. Aurora, calm as ever, reaches out and peels a second boutonnière from Uncle Gianni's lapel. She was always going to need a spare.
